Experience the Nürburgring’s 1st eTAXI Ride in the I-PACE

If you’ve always wanted to experience the Nürburgring Nordschleife for yourself but lack the skills to take it on at speed, many car companies offer taxi rides for a fee. Now, Jaguar have stepped up the game by becoming the first car company to offer an all-electric eTAXI ride of the Nordschleife with their I-PACE crossover.

For a fee of €149.00 (RM691), Jaguar will put you and two others in the passenger seats of the I-PACE and have a professional driver give you a lap of the ‘Ring. The price includes taxes and rental for a balaclava and helmet and the price is fixed regardless of the number of people in the car. Another €149 will, of course, give you and your mates another lap. And with a 90kWh lithium-ion battery, the I-PACE will probably have enough juice for a few laps.

If driven at a reasonable speed, the I-PACE’s 470km range would have it cover the 20.8km lap of the Nürburgring over 22 times! But since the professional driver will probably be flooring it every chance he gets, the electric cat might only deliver about a dozen runs…

And it’s not like the Jaguar I-PACE is one of those slower, greener EVs either. It comes with an electric motor capable of 400PS and 696Nm of torque which gives it a 0-100km/h time of 4.8 seconds! Not bad for a vehicle aimed for the premium mass-market.

This new experience is open to the public immediately and will cease operations in late November. Head to this website to book your own ride. Just be warned you need to be at least 18 years of age, weigh less than 120kg and be less than 2m tall to participate.

Actually a good price

You might be thinking that €149 is quite a lot of money to not even drive a car. But by comparison, it’s a LOT cheaper than Jaguar’s alternative Nürburgring taxi service. That alternative will put you in the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 for €249. What’s worse is that the XE SV Project 8 taxi only seats 1 passenger, so while the I-PACE eTAXI could potentially be split between three people for under €50 per person, the Project 8 will cost you RM1155 by today’s conversion rate. But yes, the Project 8 is a proper performance vehicle.
