Since 1966 the Toyota Corolla has been making waves, becoming the all-time best selling car in the world. Today, UMW Toyota Motor has launched the all-new 12th-generation Corolla in two trim levels:
- 1.8E
- 1.8G
Both come with a 1.8-litre 2ZR-FE 4-cylinder petrol engine with Dual VVT-i sending 139PS and 172Nm of torque to the front wheels via a Shiftmatic CVT. The transmission comes with 7-speed sequential shifting via the shift lever or paddle shifters (G variant). It is built on the awesome Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) and is fully imported from Thailand.
Both variants Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, ABS, Hill-start Assist Control, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, and 7 airbags as standard. The G variant adds Toyota Safety Sense, which comes with the following components:
- Pre-collision System (PCS)
- Lane Departure Alert (LDA)
- Steering Assist & Lane Tracing Assist (LTA)
- Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)
- Automatic High Beam
- Blind Spot Monitor

The 1.8G variant costs RM8000 more but adds the following:

UMW Toyota will also offer optional installation of a Vehicle Telematics System to help track the car should it become stolen. Owners can also monitors vehicle’s speed and other operating conditions via email or mobile app.
The all new Corolla is now in all UMW Toyota showrooms nationwide.
