Mini Electric Has 45,000 Orders To Date

Its high orders confirms the quick shift to electric mobility in Europe

Production of the new MINI is due to start in Oxford on 1 November. Very soon you will be seeing the new MINI Electric nearly everywhere in England. Officially called the MINI Cooper SE in the rest of Europe, this is a product of BMW and this EV is not trying to compete in the long-range distance contest with cars like the Hyundai Kona Electric and instead it is trying to put the Honda-e in second place.

This Mini comes equipped with a 32.6kWh battery pack promising a range of 124 to 144 miles, decent performance (0-62mph in 7.3 seconds), the ability to take an 80 per cent charge in half an hour or so at a rapid charger and it sells for a sensible price starting from £24,400 (which is about RM120,200 before leaving the UK).

Such a relatively modest range might be expected to put buyers off, but it seems MINI has already garnered at least 45,000 orders for the electric MINI in Europe ahead of production.
