Bermaz Motor has announced the arrival of the facelifted Mazda MX-5 RF. The sports car now comes with enhanced standard equipment as well as a more powerful engine.
Inside, the Mazda Connect infotainment display gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. This allows customers to use integrated apps such as Waze, Google Maps, Spotify and other phone functions.
Though the MX-5 has never been about power, having a higher output doesn’t hurt. For 2019, the 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated Skyactiv-G engine has been upgraded and now churns out 181 hp at 7,000 rpm and 205 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm.
To compare, the previous version offered 158 hp at 6,000 rpm and 200 Nm at 4,000 rpm. According to Mazda, this makes the MX-5 RF more responsive and engaging to drive, in line with its Jinba Ittai engineering philosophy.
Other upgrades include new 17-inch wheels in black metallic and a new telescopic steering wheel with 42 mm of travel. As before, the MX-5 RF can be had in automatic and manual versions.
The are seven colours available for this model, namely Soul Red Crystal, Machine Gray, Jet Black, Snowflake White Pearl, Eternal Blue, Ceramic Metallic and Arctic White.
Fully imported from Japan, the MX-5 RF is priced at RM259,154 for the manual and RM260,354 for the automatic. Both versions come with five year/100,000 km manufacturer warranty and five year/100,000 km free maintenance.
