This is the latest update from our State Assemblyman who is at the work site looking into the work progress.
Media Statement by Rajiv Rishyakaran, State Assemblyman for Bukit Gasing, Selangor on Saturday, August 3rd 2019
SPAN must take maximum action on the contractor who damaged water pipe on federal highway.
This damage has caused water interruptions to hundreds of houses for 4 days, and has caused massive traffic jams on federal highway.
Contractors that do underground utilities work must be extremely careful, not to break any existing pipe or wires as the interruption causes massive inconvenience to users.
It’s time that 3rd party damage be punished accordingly, and we need SPAN as the authority to tell us the progress of this. If contractors are let of the hook, “mistakes” will continue to happen.
I also visited the site this morning. They’ve cleared the hurdles of other utilities in the area and the pipe replacement should be complete by this evening.
In the meanwhile we’ve been assisting residents affected by water tanker. Tankers have been moving around. If you need a water tanker pls let us know your address.
Fyi, utilities criss cross roads all the time. Else there is no water water, internet, electricity can reach your house. And when this particular utility contractor was tunneling across federal highway, they rammed into the water pipe.
I also met the culprit, who was on site, feeling very bad. Nonetheless SPAN must take maximum action on that company.
