Mazda is celebrating the 25th birthday of its iconic two-seat roadster that has constantly enchanted car enthusiasts. We’re talking about the Mazda Miata or also known as the Mazda MX5 roadster and the 25 amazing years since it first arrived back in 1989. In these 25 years of existence, the MX-5 Miata managed to obtain numerous awards, more than 200 in fact, and even make it into the Guinness Book of World Records as the “Best-Selling Two-Seater Sports Car.”
Yes, it appears that this particular car knows what success is all about as it has managed to fulfill its promise of delivering pure driving enjoyment at an appropriate price. Unlike other automobile companies, Mazda kept on improving its Miata from a performance point of view as well as at stylistic level. With this, the only thing left to say is Congrats and one Rocking Happy Birthday.
The Mazda MX-5 Miata first debuted at the Chicago Auto Show in 1989. It makes 25 years that the by-now iconic open-air two-seater is on the market. The mark the anniversary, Mazda is bringing 15 Miatas to the New York Auto Show, next month.
Mazda didn’t say which versions of the MX-5 it’s bringing to New York, but with three generations to choose from and over 900,000 units built and sold, there are plenty of examples – including production versions, special editions and concept cars. Reportedly, the much expected fourth generation Miata won’t be however on display.
