One mans passion to revive classic Alfa Romeo Cars.
This is passion for classic car originality at a level unheard of in Malaysia. This one man has made restoration of Alfa Romeo classics his passion and we were lucky enough to get his approval to share these pictures of his current project, an Alfa GT 2000 which is undergoing work that will shame the work of Italian artisans in Italy who are involved in Museo Storico Alfa Romeo which is Alfa Romeo’s official museum, located in Arese which displays a permanent collection of Alfa Romeo cars and engines.
Alfa Romeo collector, Mr. Chong Soo Ong, is only interested in perfection and this is why this restoration project is being undertaken at his preferred body and interior restorer in Bangkok, Thailand.
In Mr. Chong’s own words. “The GT has a perfect PPG Deltron finish in Grigio Chiaro AR 727, all NOS Carello and Altissimo lights all round baring none. Every piece of stainless steel and Mazak trim re plated and every piece of hardware cadmium plated. All other metal parts like splash plated and fuel tank finished in black powder coat including the brand new suspension that’s going on soon.
Under tray and wheel arches stripped and sprayed in Colad water based under seal giving a nice tight texture which looks much better than the bitumen based under seal then sprayed over in body colour and lacquered for easy maintenance.
Perfect shut and gap lines, she looks so sharp and crisp in this favorite colour of mine. All her glass panels were also replaced with a set of clear Sicursiv set replacing the old set with a green tint in order not to disturb the view inside of her blood red leather interior , the only not original part instead of the regular Alfatex vinyl used by Alfa Romeo but certainly an improvement for creature comfort yet keeping steadfastly to the switching details. More to come of the interior very soon”.
We will share the completed restoration project with you once ready.
