Casio Computer Co., Ltd., recently announced the release of a new addition to the EDIFICE line of high-performance metal chronographs based on the brand concept of “Speed and Intelligence.” The new EQB-1000D packs a low-profile timekeeping module and features a slim design inspired by high-tech sports cars.
The EQB-1000D has an eye-catching slim profile made possible by a newly developed compact timekeeping module. Casio shaved down component size in increments as small as 1/100th of a millimetre, and by using high-density mounting to place all the components on one side of the circuit board rather than on both sides as in previous models. The result is a thin profile just 8.9 mm deep, 4.1 mm thinner than the existing model.
The design, inspired by high-tech sports cars, emphasizes the slim profile with a flat bezel and precisely shaped lugs. The bezel and dial are treated with a hairline finish that evokes precision- machined automotive parts. Taking its inspiration from motorsports, the four screws combine with the bezel to suggest the dense build of a race car engine.
The EQB-1000D is also replete with great functions for measuring lap time and more. The new Last Lap Indicator displays the difference from the previous lap time on the inset dial within a range of minus five to plus one seconds. The watch also simultaneously displays the time in two cities with world time. The watch pairs with a smartphone via Bluetooth® to ensure accurate time and also allow the user to select the world time city easily from the smartphone. The EQB-1000D is a truly special timepiece that delivers the precise timekeeping required in motorsports, packed with extensive functionality for races.
