Prince Harry of Great Britain has just met the all new Land Rover Defender. A special camouflaged version was prepared by Land Rover to mark the start of a countdown, 12 months before the fifth edition of the Invictus Games , where Jaguar Land Rover is an official partner, and the Prince is the owner of the Invictus Games Foundation.
Between May 9-16, 2020, more participants from a total of 500 will be the first people on the planet who will have the opportunity to lead the new Defender after the presentation and before the start of its global sales.
It seems that this image published recently was indeed an unauthorized leak from within Land Rover. The author of the leaked post with the image, the British designer Robert Charles, just a few hours after publishing erased it. Interestingly, his account with thousands of followers no longer exists, but the image remains on the world wide web.
Land Rover has admitted that the photo features the interior of the new Defender’s pre-series prototype, but called the “obsolete” image.
The new generation Land Rover Defender will debut later this year. A fixed date is unknown for now. Meanwhile, an image appeared in the online space that would indicate the new Defender’s dashboard architecture.
Testing the new Defender is already underway around the world. The first development vehicles (mule) and prototypes reached the North American shores earlier this month. Testing on the ocean continent provides valuable data to engineers, given the variety of land and surfaces available there. Engineers will be subjected to rigorous tests to ensure that the new Defender is the most capable Land Rover off-road vehicle ever.
Test machines are already running through various areas with a temperature difference of -40 to + 50 degrees Celsius, on good roads and off-road, at low altitudes or at high altitudes above 4,000 meters above sea level.
“There is a handful of cars that are loved around the world and are a brand, a country and a distinct way of life. Land Rover Defender is such a unique vehicle, “said Kim McCullough, Marketing Vice President, Jaguar Land Rover North America.
“On behalf of Land Rover and retailers, we are proud to announce that the voices of American and Canadian customers have been heard! The new generation Defender will be on sale here from 2020. This announcement is a gift to our Defender fans in North America and a clue about what is coming to the New Year. “
