Perodua will distribute operational funds worth GBP£1.2 million (RM6 million) over a period of 8 years to its distributor, Perodua UK Limited (PDUK), to continue it’s after sales services there. The after sales services include ensuring the availability of spare parts, after sales warranty as well as normal vehicle maintenance services.
“We wish to assure our customers in the UK that we remain committed in supporting them and our business partner (PDUK) despite no longer supplying our vehicles here,” Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Aminar Rashid Salleh said.
The commitment was documented in a signing ceremony between Perodua and Perodua UK Limited at the Malaysia High Commission in London. The small yet meaningful event was witnessed by the newly appointed Malaysia High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Dato’ Mohd Rashidi Hazizi. Aminar said that Perodua would distribute the GBP£1.2 million, in instalments to PDUK every quarter until the end of 2020.
Perodua first began exporting to the UK in 1998 and have sold nearly 13,000 vehicles ranging from the Kancil, which is known as the Nippa in the UK, the Perodua Kelisa, the Perodua Kenari and the Perodua Myvi. PDUK currently has 55 service dealers under its umbrella in the UK which are located in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands. Perodua now exports to 7 countries, which are Indonesia, Singapore, Brunei, Fiji, Mauritius, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
