For the past few years, Electric Vehicles (EV) like the Tesla, Nissan Leaf and Renault Zoe have been enjoying a very low road tax rate as the Malaysian road transport department did not see a need to look throughly into this segment as there were so few EV’s running around.
Now with the slow but surely increase in sales of EV’s in Malaysia and the ‘push’ by the new Prime Minister to get a locally produced EV for many Malaysians to own and drive, a new road tax rate has been introduced and it covers even motorcycles and also truck and busses.
