0Tesla Model Y Revealed! It’s a Crossover
American electric car manufacturer Tesla have shown their upcoming Model Y. The Model Y takes the essentials of the Model 3 and morphs it into the shape of a mid-size SUV.
Variants
A base model is being targetted at US$39,000, but this ‘Standard Range’ version will be only available later on in the model’s life cycle (Spring 2021).
Initial batches of the Model Y will more likely come as Long Range, Dual-Motor All-Wheel Drive and Performance variants (Fall 2020).
Customers will be able to configure the Model Y as either a 5- or 7-seater.
Performance
Tesla are claiming a 0-100km/h time of about 3.5 seconds and a top speed of about 240km/h, which is impressive as always. Electric battery range will be between 370km-483km, depending on the variant.
Features like a panoramic glass roof, a ‘front trunk’, split folding second-row seats, and a large tablet screen are making a reappearance.
Just like a lot of previous Teslas, this one will feature massive smartphone integration. Not only will you be able to use your smartphone as your car key, but you’ll also get to Summon the car to you, turn the A/C on, track your car’s location and limit its speed using the Tesla Mobile App.
