Nissan today showed us what’s new on their facelifted X-Trail. Their event consisted of a detailed product presentation as well as a test drive. Here’s what’s new:
Refreshed Exterior Design
The facelift X-Trail brings Nissan’s latest design language to the exterior. At the front, you’ll notice a new bumper, grille, LED headlamps, new fog lamps, and daytime running lights. You’ll also find new 17″ rims, new side and rear bumper chrome garnish, a new rear bumper design, a shark fin antenna and smoked LED taillights.
Besides those changes, the X-Trail now comes with a new body colour, Imperial Umber.

Besides giving the X-Trail facelift the new flat-bottomed steering wheel design we saw on the Serena S-Hybrid, here are some additional features.

The entry level model is the X-Trail 2.0L 2WD. Under RM139,900, this comes with:

Then there’s the much awaited 2.0L Hybrid 2WD model. This makes the X-Trail the first SUV in its class (C-segment SUV) to feature a hybrid powertrain. For less than RM169,900 it adds:

- Cooperative Regenerative Braking System
- 0.9kWh Li-Ion Battery

All variants come with a 5 year warranty with unlimited mileage.
The new Hybrid Variant
The new X-Trail Hybrid pairs the proven MR20DD 2-litre petrol to a 41PS/160Nm Electric motor. The battery capacity is rated at 0.9kWh and the whole system is tied together using Nissan’s Intelligent Dual Clutch Control System. The gearbox is still a CVT. The dual clutch system here only involves switching between electric and petrol power.
