The Audi Q8 is getting 2 new V6 engine options. This flagship ‘Q’ model will now come as the ‘Q8 55 TFSI’ and ‘Q8 45 TDI’.
At launch, it was only available as the ‘Q8 55 TDI’ (learn about how Audi names these things here).
The new petrol TFSI engine is a 3-litre that produces 340hp and 500Nm of torque which should propel the Q8 from 0 to 100km/h in just 5.9 seconds.
The 3-litre diesel TDI engine that came with the Q8 initially is now being offered with a lower output. Instead of 286PS and 600Nm of torque, there’s a version that puts out just 231hp and 500Nm of torque. This ’45 TDI’ version gives it a similar 0-100km/h time as the 55 TFSI.
As before, the Q8’s engines are all equipped with a mild hybrid component which is said to bring consumption down by 0.7L/100km. This system allows the Q8 to coast with its engine turned off for up to 40 seconds between speeds of 55 and 160km/h.
The 8-speed Tiptronic gearbox sends power to all wheels through the Audi’s latest quattro system.
