Toyota Unveils All-New Hiace Van!

Even if you’ve never owned a van in your life, the Hiace from Toyota will most likely be familiar to you. These workhorses have served as minibuses and cargo movers since the late 1960s in the region. Over 6.24 million Hiaces have been sold across the world.

Today, Toyota has shown a new generation of the vehicle which they launched in the Philippines. It will eventually make its way to even more markets in the coming months. The biggest fundamental change is its conventional front hood design.

The new Hiace is built on a revised platform which preserves its durability but improves on its comfort and safety. This is said to make the vehicle more ‘livable’ for the owners or drivers.

Toyota is offering 2 body types: Normal with a Standard Roof and Long with a High Roof.

2 engine options are being made available too. A 2.8-litre 1GD turbo diesel engine with 176hp. This engine comes with a high-boost turbocharger, intercooler system, EGR, and a Dual Mass Flywheel. A 3.5-litre petrol (7GR) engine will also be made available.

A huge variety of internal layouts are being offered. If you’re looking to move people, up to 17 occupants can fit in the new Hiace.

That’s more than any of its rivals.

Versions of the Hiace tailored to cargo use will be wide enough to fit most large pallets.

All versions come with more ‘car-like’ features for the driver and front passenger including more storage space in the door cards and under the seat.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of this new Hiace is that it comes with Toyota Safety Sense and achieves performance equivalent to five stars in the Euro NCAP.
