Jaguar North America announced this week that the Jaguar F-TYPE has been named the 2014 ‘Car of the Year’ by Playboy magazine. Contributing Editor A.J. Baime and the editors of Playboy tested hundreds of vehicles in search of the best new cars on the road. The F-TYPE came out on top and takes the ‘Car of the Year’ title, complementing the lengthy list of F-TYPE awards.
“This is the Jaguar we’ve been waiting for – a beautiful car, a brilliantly-performing machine, nuanced and yet very true to Jaguar’s DNA,” said A.J. Baime, Playboy’s editor at large. “In our many miles of testing on road and track, we had difficulty finding flaws. That’s why it’s our 2014 Car of the Year.”
“Winning Playboy’s Car of the Year award is a fantastic accomplishment for the Jaguar F-TYPE,” said Jeff Curry, Brand Vice President, Jaguar North America. “This award builds upon the excitement of the all new F-TYPE, reinforces the momentum of the Jaguar brand in shaking up the sports car establishment and represents the essence of what the Jaguar brand stands for.”
The Jaguar F-TYPE represents a return to the company’s heart: a two-seat, sports car focused on performance, agility and driver involvement. The F-TYPE Convertible and Coupe are powered by the new Jaguar supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine in 340hp and 380hp outputs and a 495hp 5.0-liter supercharged V8. The F-TYPE Coupe debuted at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show this past November, will go on sale in the spring and is available in three models: F-TYPE Coupe, F-TYPE S Coupe and F-TYPE R Coupe.
