Most of you might not have heard about Ibis Automobile. This was a Malaysian-Thai joint-venture that was in the Peugeot car business in the 1980s. Ibis held the Peugeot franchise briefly in the late 1980s and then soon after MBf-Peugeot took over the Peugeot business in the 1990s and they had a small market share of the car business in Malaysia until Cycle & Carriage came along in 2002. Now we have Nasim handling the Peugeot business in Malaysia.
The reason why we are going back in history for Ibis is because Ibis was remembered for bringing a few units of the hot hatch Peugeot 205 GTi and the slightly more mature 309 GTi. Both models sold in very few numbers and today these cars have somewhat disappeared from Malaysian roads.
Here are some must know facts for the legendary 205 GTi, both versions.
