Actress/model Lisa Surihani along with three other famous faces recently collectively achieved an astounding total distance of 218.95KM on just one litre of Shell FuelSave fuel each.
Driving ultra-energy efficient Shell Eco-marathon vehicles on a specially-designed street circuit, Lisa Surihani joined three other celebrities from across Asia in a collective feat to drive the furthest using the least amount of energy. This was the culmination of four national challenges, which saw the celebrities each attempt to drive a set route in their countries using the least amount of Shell FuelSave fuel possible.
The Shell FuelSave Celebrity Driving Challenge was an event that took place on 15 and 16 January 2014, during which Lisa met with Malaysia’s brightest engineering students who took part in Shell Eco-marathon Asia 2014. Alongside this, Lisa also picked up the Shell FuelSave Tips under the coaching of Shell FuelSave Ambassador, Fahrin Ahmad, and shared these driving tips with regular drivers as she prepared for the final challenge in Manila.
Lisa said: “I’m so proud to be a part of this team. However, the real stars today are the students. It’s been an honour to be part of their Shell Eco-marathon experience and to see such dedication and creativity in approaching future energy needs and challenges. I look forward to cheering them on in their own mileage competition later today.”
Lisa added “Before embarking on this challenge, I had no idea how easy it could be to become more fuel efficient and manage my motoring costs. Now I know how making a smart choice with the right and innovative fuel, like Shell FuelSave 95 and a few small changes to our driving habits can make a big difference. I would also like to thank our Shell FuelSave Ambassador, Fahrin Ahmad for coaching me during the Shell FuelSave Celebrity Driving Challenge in Malaysia and educating me on the Shell FuelSave Tips, which has made me more fuel efficient.”
In its fifth year in Asia, Shell Eco-marathon is one of the world’s most innovative and challenging student competitions inviting teams from around the world to compete in ultra-energy efficient vehicles they have designed and built and sparking debate around the future of mobility. From 6-9 February 2014, more than 120 teams from 16 countries including 17 teams from Malaysia are participating in Shell Eco-marathon Asia, taking place in Manila, the Philippines, for the first time.
Leslie Ng, Retail National Sales Manager, Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn. Bhd. added: “We are delighted to celebrate such an impressive result today. With Shell Eco-marathon we hope to inspire the next generation of engineers to meet future energy needs. Lisa has also shown Malaysian drivers how easy it can be to be more fuel efficient today by making smarter choices.”
