Production of the all-new Ford EcoSport has commenced at the Ford Thailand Manufacturing (FTM) plant in Rayong. The Blue Oval manufacturer made the announcement yesterday right after the first compact crossover SUV rolled off the Thai assembly line.
Ford Thailand Manufacturing has become the fourth plant to build the EcoSport, joining the facilities in Chennai (India), Chonqing (China) and Camcari (Brazil). Crossovers built at FTM will be sold on the domestic market and exported to other markets across the ASEAN region.
“The all-new EcoSport continues our ongoing product-led transformation by providing customers with another segment-leading vehicle to our growing Ford showroom across our ASEAN markets. Produced at our highly flexible Ford Thailand Manufacturing facility, it is the next proof point in our continued growth strategy in the region,” said Matt Bradley, president of Ford ASEAN.
The EcoSport is powered by Ford’s 1.5-liter Ti-VCT engine and can be had with either a six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission or a five-speed manual gearbox. Look out for the launch of this all new Ford SUV in Malaysia this year.
