Zenith Dare to Defy Exhibition in Malaysia featuring the DEFY collection

Zenith together with its retail partner, Cortina Watch recently held a VIP cocktail event on 20th September 2018 to introduce Zenith’s Baselworld 2018, high-performance DEFY collection at the Dare to Defy exhibition at Starhill Gallery. The cocktail was attended by customers loyal to the brand, watch enthusiasts and brand partners.

Tina Lee, SEA Brand Director of Zenith was in attendance to introduce guests to the Baselworld 2018 Collection consisting of the Defy Classic, Defy Zero G and the Defy El Primero 21 which were all on display at the exhibition.

The DEFY CLASSIC takes casual urban elegance to a whole new level. Designed for style- conscious urbanites, the charismatic DEFY CLASSIC with its 41mm ultra-light titanium case and star-themed open worked dial offers fascinating views of the reliable and accurate Manufacture ZENITH automatic Elite 670 base calibre. Blackened, structured and topped by a cut-out date disc read off on a white dot at 6 o’clock, the movement oscillates at 4 Hz and offers its owner over 50 hours of autonomy. In a nod to the collection’s legendary origins, the deep blue minutes ring is the exact same shade as its illustrious predecessor, the 1969 El Primero.

Defying gravity is the DEFY ZERO G with a gyroscopic “Gravity Control” module. The balance wheel and other regulating organs of the movement are kept at a horizontal position at all times, increasing the precision of the watch. The entire watch consists out of 324 parts, of which 139 make up the gyroscopic carriage, delivering utmost precision at the high frequency of 5 hz.

Zenith introduced a movement that would later become an icon, being both one of the first automatic chronograph movements, and being the 20th century’s king of precision, beating at 5Hz and being precise to a 10th of a second. Its name: the El Primero. At Baselworld, a revamped Defy El Primero 21 marries the best features of the original El Primero, with the other-worldly.

Featuring a fast-beating engine with a 21st century appeal: 50Hz frequency, precision to 100th of a second, modern look, open-worked movement, the Zenith Defy El Primero 21 is undisputedly fast.

Ending her speech, Tina Lee said “Next year, is El Primero’s 50th year anniversary and we are very excited to be presenting something really special in Baselworld 2019 and by then, we hope to be able to share with everyone the new El Primero.”
