How Volvo Cars Malaysia is Reducing Paper Wastage

Plug-in Hybrids are supposed to be good for the environment. But they’re an extremely complicated way of reducing emissions.

To us, it’s the little things that count. If a company sells PHEVs but cuts down a few trees for press releases during the launch of the PHEV itself, then the intention isn’t quite there.

So we reached out to manufacturers who sell locally-assembled PHEVs and asked what they were going to do about paper use at events.

And here’s the response we got from Volvo Car Malaysia:

As a human-centric car company, Volvo is a brand that cars about people and the world that we live in and thus, sustainability is at the core of our business approach, in many areas of our operations.

For press events, we are slowly transitioning to “paper-less” press kits – currently, only the press release and one-pager fact sheets are being printed whilst other materials are being hosted on a memory stick.

For our next event, we are taking this even further, by storing all press materials on an FTP (File Transfer Protocol) site for easy access and sharing, foregoing the need for a memory stick.

We thank Volvo Car Malaysia for their efforts towards sustainability and for being the first to share their response with us.
