Next Bike Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor for Ducati motorcycles in Malaysia, has officially launched the highly anticipated Ducati Scrambler 1100 at the 7th annual Art Of Speed held at MAEPS, Serdang.
For the Malaysian market, two variants of the Scrambler 1100 – Special and Sport – will be offered with a price starting from RM83,000 for the former and RM85,000 for the latter.
The Special variant comes in Custom Grey with black frame and wheels as well as gold-coloured anodised sleeves on the front fork, while the Sport variant comes in Viper Black matched with yellow stripes down the tank and mudguards as well as black frame and wheels.
An improvement on the Monster 1100 engine, both variants are powered by a 1,079 cc L-twin two-valve engine that puts out a maximum power of 86 hp at 7,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 88.4 Nm at 4,750 rpm. The output is sent to the rear wheel via a six-speed transmission with a wet multi-plate clutch which has a servo-assisted slipper function that limits rear wheel destabilisation during down-shifting.
The chassis set-up of the Ducati Scrambler 1100 is comprised of an all-new twin upper spar steel Trellis frame that envelopes the engine with a rear aluminium subframe. The Sport variant gets Öhlins suspension (as opposed to Kayaba suspension on the Special variant), with upside-down 45-mm front fork and a rear shock with adjustable spring preload and rebound damping.
To maximise stopping performance, the front wheel is equipped with two 330-mm disc with two M4.32 Brembo Monobloc calipers, while the rear wheel gets a 245-mm disc and a single-piston caliper. As for electronics, the model features three riding modes (Active, Journey and City), Cornering ABS and Ducati Traction Control.
To enhance its aftersales experience, Next Bike is offering the Ducati Smart Service Program, a two-year/30,000-km free service for parts and lubricants, including Desmodromic service. This offer goes on top of the current two-year unlimited mileage warranty and is available at all authorised Ducati dealerships and service centres nationwide.
