XPENG X9 Finds 300 Malaysian Owners in Only 4 Weeks

The XPENG X9 gets 300 plus firm orders after its launch a month ago

2025 seems to be the year of the premium electric MPV in Malaysia, and all of them coincidentally happen to have ‘9’ in their names.

Following the arrival of the Zeekr 009 and Denza D9 in early 2025, there was the newly-launched XPENG X9, which landed locally with a starting price of RM269,888 to give the luxury electric MPV market a real shakeup.

It is a great time for segment buyers as each and every MPV is priced to excite. We have just heard a whisper from inside XPENG Malaysia that they have 300 plus solid bookings for their X9. Loan approved and ready for delivery!

The X9 selling price is very attractive. In case you were wondering. Selling prices for three variants of the XPENG X9 are:

Standard Range 2WD Pro: RM 269,888

Long Range 2WD Pro: RM 287,888

Long Range 2WD Pro Plus: RM 299,888

The XPENG X9 features an 800V high-voltage SiC platform and 3C battery cells. So, a single front-mounted motor that outputs 315 hp and 450 Nm of torque propels all variants of the Xpeng X9 locally.

The only difference between the trims is that the 84.5 kWh LFP battery pack in the Standard Range spec is good for 500 km on a full charge, while the larger 101.5 kWh NMC unit on the Extended Range trims extends that WLTP-rated figure by a further 90 km.

the X9’s starship-inspired cockpit packs a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 17.3-inch infotainment display up front. Other luxury-oriented features found within the Xpeng X9 include ceiling-mounted 21.4-inch screen, a 23-speaker 7.1.6 XOpera audio system paired with a 2,180 W amplifier, a five-zone climate control system with ceiling vents, CN95 air filtration and negative ion generator, as well as the obligatory in-car ‘integrated cold & hot electric open close refrigerator.’

Meanwhile, Denza D9 and Zeekr 009 sales are very close behind with 200 units each. So, there are 700 or so Malaysians turning their back of a used Toyota Alphard or Vellfire from Japan which sells for between RM280k to RM330k without any after sales or factory warranty.

Will the reconditioned/used Alphard and Vellfire importers start lowering their selling prices to clear stocks in the coming months?
