Jetour Dashing Launched In Malaysia

The Jetour Dashing becomes the first of many models to be launched in our market.

For well over a year, Jetour has been building up the excitement for their introduction to the Malaysian market and today we finally see the first big step. Earlier today, the company launched their first model here, the Dashing – a vehicle that has achieved over 200,000 sales across more than 65 markets. This is petrol-powered crossover SUV will be available in two variants with very attractive pricing and a generous warranty package.

Starting with the measurements, the Jetour Dashing is 1900mm wide, 1685mm tall, 4590mm long from bumper to bumper with a wheelbase of 2720mm. Jetour claims that the Dashing has seats that are 20mm wider in front and at the rear compared to its primary rival in Malaysia. While they did not name names, it’s clear that they’re referring to the Proton X70. The cabin features a flat-bottomed steering for better ergonomics too. The trunk features a powered tailgate with 486L of cargo space, extendable to 977L with the rear seats folded down.

The 1.5L 4 cylinder turbocharged petrol engine has an output of 156PS and 230Nm of torque and sends power to the front tyres via a 6-speed DCT with paddle shifters.

In terms of features, there’s a twin 10.25″ screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The smart key is ‘cube’ chaped, the door handles are concealed, there’s a 50W wireless charger, an armrest with a built-in cooling box, rear air vents, CN95 cabin air filtration, and a door handle utility holder. Standard features also include 18″ alloy wheels, 4-speakers, and full LED lighting.

As mentioned earlier there are two variants: the Dashing Comfort and the Dashing Prime. The Comfort model has all the standard features while the Prime model gets additional features such as Auto Rain-Sensing Wipers, a Surround View Camera, Auto-Folding Heated Side View Mirrors, a wide panoramic sunroof, 6 airbags as well as Active Safety features such as Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Warning, and Door Opening Warning, plus 19″ alloy wheels. This model also gets ambient lighting, 4-way powered passenger seat, and 6-speakers.

Colour choices include Khaki White, Carbon Black, Hematite Red, Aurora Green, and Phantom Grey. The Comfort model is priced at RM109,800 while the Prime model goes for RM116,800.

The standard package all owners car expect includes 5 times free service (labour and parts), 7 years/150,000km vehicle warranty coverage, an 10 years/1,000,000km engine warranty coverage. The first 500 customers will receive an RM2,000 cash rebate.

The car will be locally-assembled in Johor collaboration with Berjaya. Exports are being planned as well from Malaysia to ASEAN, Oceania and the Middle East. Jetour has invested RM560 million in manufacturing here with RM216 million invested in research and development and RM65 million in network investment. They have promised more than 40% parts localisation for CKD cars too. There are at least 3 models planned for launch this year with many more on the way.
