The Hyundai INSTEROID is a crazy design upgrade on the new Hyundai Inster.
Last year, Hyundai revealed the smallest electric crossover in their line-up, the Inster. Now, they’re seeing how far they can push the design boundaries of this new form factor by ‘infusing it with steroids’. Meet the Hyundai INSTEROID concept car.

The Hyundai INSTEROID was shown recently in Seoul at a private Night Garage Party. It merges gaming influences with loads of customization and is aimed at the next generation of customers looking to get into their first EV. Hyundai says the car was crafted in secrecy and it’s quite likely a derivative of this concept will eventually be put into production.

INSTEROID elevates the INSTER production model with its gaming-inspired athletic design, featuring an expanded, wider body, track-ready wheels, and enhanced aerodynamics through its prominent wing spoiler, diffuser, and wheel arch vents.

The interior presents a minimalist racing environment with bucket seats, roll cage, and specialized instruments for a fully immersive driving experience. True to its “Build it, play it, break it, repeat” philosophy, all elements are customizable, embodying the spirit of garage-built customization. The vehicle’s distinctive sound profile creates a memorable sensory experience.

Expanding on INSTER’s distinctive design, INSTEROID transforms driving with its Drift Mode, balancing competitive performance with playful enjoyment. Interactive features like the Beat House sound system and Message Grid allow for personalized engagement. The Boost icon appears throughout the design representing different personas and strengthening the emotional car-driver connection.

Lightweight lattice structures are integrated throughout to enhance performance and reduce weight. The soft white exterior is accented by a single bold orange highlight for a distinctive visual identity. A matching reflective race suit with prominent INSTEROID branding completes the concept, blending car culture with youthful expression.

INSTEROID demonstrates Hyundai Motor’s sustainability commitment through innovative eco-friendly materials, including interior 3D knit fabric made from recycled yarns using a single-piece, made-to-measure production process.
