Two New Seven-Seater Volvo Flagship SUVs To Be Available In Malaysia Soon

Volvo is bringing the updated all-electric EX90 and PHEV XC90 soon

Volvo Car Malaysia has officially announced the arrival of two highly anticipated models from its flagship seven-seater SUV lineup, namely, the Volvo EX90 and the facelifted Volvo XC90. Both models will soon be available for purchase in Malaysia, with exact availability dates to be confirmed via Volvo’s website.

The Volvo EX90, which was first introduced in 2022, is a fully electric SUV that sets new standards in safety and technology. As Volvo’s most advanced vehicle to date, the EX90 is designed to be the safest car the brand has ever made, incorporating a range of active safety technologies inside and out.

Moreover, the EX90 is engineered to prevent them altogether. One of the key features of the EX90 is its inclusion of lidar technology, which enhances its ability to detect and respond to surroundings. The vehicle also boasts the brand’s Superset core computing tech stack, and it is the first Volvo car built with hardware designed for future fully autonomous driving capabilities.

Global deliveries of the Volvo EX90 began in late 2024, and Malaysia is set to be one of the first Asia Pacific markets to receive the model, following Thailand. With its combination of cutting-edge safety features, groundbreaking technology, and fully electric performance, the EX90 represents Volvo’s vision for the future of SUVs.

Alongside the EX90, the newly facelifted Volvo XC90 is also making its way to Malaysian shores. The XC90 has been a key player in Volvo’s lineup for years, and this updated version redefines the SUV for an electric age.

On top of that, the XC90 made history in Malaysia in 2016 as the first plug-in hybrid vehicle to be locally assembled, and it continues to be a symbol of Volvo’s commitment to sustainable, yet practical, transportation. The XC90 remains a go-to choice for families, offering impressive electric range, safety, and flexibility, making it a versatile option for those with varying electrification goals.

Both the Volvo EX90 and the new XC90 offer exceptional range and practicality, making them ideal choices for families who prioritize safety and reliability, regardless of their electrification preferences. The EX90 tops Volvo’s fully electric lineup, which also includes the Volvo EX30, Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric, and the Volvo EC40 (formerly known as the C40 Recharge).

Chris Wailes, Managing Director of Volvo Car Malaysia, expressed, “Whether you’re looking for the latest in safety technology in a fully electric vehicle, or wishing to upgrade to the next-generation version of our iconic SUV, Volvo’s ’90’ flagship models have something for everyone.”
