Public Relations is slowly becoming less and less and even less professional
We often hear how some Public Relations firms advertise their awards on LinkedIn proudly. In fact, right now I think there is NO public relations firm that has NOT won numerous awards for their ‘fantastic’ work. (btw how many were paid for in advance by buying a full dinner table at the awards event or buying the award outright?)
Meanwhile, we want to share a ‘wonderful’ way SOME public relations (PR) firms have been treating us in recent years.
First and the best way is shared here.
The PR firm contacts us to get our home address to say a Hari Raya package is being sent to us. We explain that we are not celebrating Hari Raya and instead we celebrate Christmas.
They say ‘its no issue’ our client wants to share the joy of Hari Raya by sending you an ‘EXCLUSIVE and PREMIUM’ Hari Raya gift …… just for you. We say okie dokie and share our home address.
A ‘Thank You’ message comes next with this below shared message.

Then, a few days later we get another PR team sending us this below message.

So, I was under the impression that a ‘Hari Raya’ gift or even Christmas hamper is sent in goodwill and with sincere intentions for the recipient to have a great celebration and enjoy the items in the gift. Therefore, these gifts are ‘Tak Ikhlas’!
Aha! Lest not forget about the big buzz word all you automotive people love using …… ‘SUSTAINABILITY’!
Is printing ‘ang pow’ packets which mostly end up in the dustbin and producing elaborate GIFT Boxes which end up in the dust bin ……. SUSTAINABLE?

Well, today it seems that there is a hidden agenda to get ‘mileage’ for the brand on media socials and all it cost is a couple of hundred Ringgit or actually less when you look at the contents of the gift. Interestingly, the gift BOX always looks more expensive than the contents and very it is soon in the dustbin.

Second and the even better way is shared below.
Ooops, before we forget, two years ago, we go a Christmas hamper with 85 percent of the items inside having long expired. We were lucky that our housekeeper noticed the date on the items as she found the boxes of cookies, chocolates and cake looking rather dull and old.
Imagine that, expired items in a gift hamper. So, are we media 5 cent 2 and Tik-Tokers and influencers more important to your brand success.
Let me ask this. After spending so much effort, money and time with tik-tokers and influencers, why are your car sales down down down and down …… and why is your brand suffering to sell enough to keep afloat?
Did you hire the WRONG PR and marketing team?
Some thing to think about. Well, that’s all folks!
