Registration Now Open for Toyota Eco Youth (TEY) 2025

Toyota is ready to empower malaysian students for a sustainable future with TEY 2025

Toyota in partnership with the MOE, is thrilled to announce the official opening of registration for Toyota Eco Youth (TEY) 2025. This year marks the 24th edition of this prestigious initiative, designed to encourage secondary school students across Malaysia to create innovative and sustainable environmental solutions.

With its widened scope, TEY 2025 promises even greater opportunities for young changemakers, offering RM167,000 in funding to support their projects. Since its launch in 2001, TEY has impacted nearly 600 schools and over 300,000 students across Malaysia.

Moreover, the program helps participants develop essential skills to become leaders in driving positive environmental change within their communities. Through mentorship, hands-on learning, and industry insights, Toyota provides ongoing support to participants, enabling them to tackle real-world environmental challenges.

This year, TEY has also doubled its reach with 30 schools participating, up from previous years. Each school will receive RM3,000 in grant funding, totaling RM90,000, to kickstart their sustainability projects. In addition, students will compete for a share of RM77,000 in cash prizes across various categories.

These prizes include RM30,000 for the winner, RM20,000 for the runner up and RM10,000 for third place. Sub-categories including Best Social Media Campaign, Best Presentation and Best Exhibition, each seeing an RM5,000 prize for winners and an RM2,000 prize for the winner of the Most Supportive Teacher sub-category.

On top of that, TEY participants have consistently created projects with tangible, positive impacts. In Kuala Bikam, students designed a system to reduce agricultural waste. In Penang, students launched a community-based marine clean-up initiative to tackle pollution. In Sarawak, another group introduced sustainable farming practices, promoting eco-friendly agriculture.

At the core of the TEY program is Toyota’s 8-Step Problem-Solving Methodology (PSM), which helps students identify environmental challenges, understand their root causes, and develop practical, sustainable solutions. Past projects have addressed key issues such as waste management, water conservation and renewable energy adoption.

Schools must sign up by 3 April 2025, to be part of this transformative experience. The official program launch, workshops and opening ceremonies will take place from 28 to 30 April 2025.
