Denza Launches N9 EV SUV, Price Ranges From RM239,537 To RM275,024

The Denza N9 is so well equipped, it is likely to completely outclass all other luxury EVs

By now, most of our readers should be more than familiar with Denza. Not only did it make waves for the D9, a fully electric luxury MPV that offers almost all the same features as rivals that cost twice as much or more and even sold 800 units within a week. Well, now the brand is pulling off an Eminem and showing us the only one capable of beating Denza, is Denza.

So in case you missed it, Denza has officially launched the N9, and this model is specifically designed to compete with premium brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Priced between USD54,000 and USD62,000 (between roughly RM239,537 and RM275,024), it can be had in either a PHEV or full electric vehicle (EV) guise.

Moreover, the Denza N9 is also equipped with BYD’s very own self-developed God’s Eye autonomous driving system, which utilizes a 128-line lidar, five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic radars and 14 cameras. Not surprising as BYD is the parent company of Denza and the latter is basically the luxury arm to the mass market BYD.

This advanced system supports a range of features such as remote parking, automatic parking in various spaces, emergency lane-keep assist and blind-spot monitoring. These innovations help position the N9 as a competitor to luxury vehicles from global brands and also makes it the most advanced and well equipped self driving vehicle on the market right now.

On top of that, the EV version of the Denza N9 is powered by an e3 triple motor system, one in the front and two in the back. The front motor makes 268hp and 315Nm of torque, while the rear motors push an additional 322hp and 360Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the PHEV is powered by a turbocharged 2-litre petrol engine making 204hp and 325Nm of torque.

The highlight of the EV version of the Denza N9 is its 3.9 second century sprint time while the 46.9kWh blade battery in the PHEV variant offers a pure electric driving range of about 202 km and a total range of 1,302km of CLTC range. It is also capable of fast charging capable of charging in just 19 minutes making it faster than around 99 percent of other EVs.

China’s EV brands like Denza, Li Auto and Xpeng, are all rapidly growing and challenging premium luxury brands in a truly terrifying way. The German big three have reported declining sales in China and cars like the Denza N9 will only make it worse so I think I speak for every Malaysian when I ask, “Malaysian launch when?”
