The Volvo EC40 will be the new name for the C40 going forward.
Last year, to avoid confusion and to realign their nomenclaure, Volvo announced that the electric XC40 and the C40 would be renamed EX40 and EC40. Today, exactly one year from the global announcement, Volvo Car Malaysia are officially adopting the EC40 name, though their press release is silent about the EX40. In fact, if you head to Volvo Car Malaysia’s official website, the all-electric XC40 is still called the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric. Maybe they need more time for that name change.
The EC40 retains the same feature set and specification despite the name change. That’s a good thing though. They gave the C40 a ‘brainlift’ last year and our review showed that the car’s improvements made it a MUCH better value in the EV space with an impressive 554km of range thanks to a huge 82kW battery pack and more efficient and rear-biased electric motors. What’s new with the name change is the Cloud Blue exterior colour option.
The Volvo EC40 comes with 5 years of complimentary Digital Services, including Google Built-in services and remote functions via the Volvo Cars app. You also get a 5-year complimentary Volvo Service Plan thrown in which involves scheduled servicing via authorised Volvo Service Centres.

Pricing remains at RM288,888 with flexible financing options and attractive interest rates available through Volvo Car Financial Services. Those who book the Volvo EC40 before the end of March 2025 will enjoy a free wall box voucher worth RM5,000.
