New Audi Q4 40 e-tron Variant Starts At RM214K

The Audi Q4 40 e-tron could be a cheap EV option that should make the company competitive.

Audi has unveiled a new addition to its electric vehicle lineup with an enhanced entry-level variant of the Q4 e-tron, offering improved range and comprehensive standard features at a competitive price point. The new Q4 40 e-tron and its Sportback version combine premium electric mobility with practical everyday usability, starting at €46,150 and €48,150 respectively. This converts to about RM214,000, which would be really attractive if brought into Malaysia in time.

The latest Q4 40 e-tron models feature a larger 63 kWh battery (59 kWh net capacity), delivering an impressive range of up to 412 kilometers (256 miles) for the standard version and 423 kilometers (263 miles) for the Sportback variant. This significant range enhancement provides drivers with greater confidence for both daily commutes and longer journeys.

Performance remains a key focus, with the Q4 40 e-tron capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds, powered by a permanently excited synchronous motor (PSM) delivering 150 kW (204 PS). The vehicle maintains a maximum speed of 160 km/h, making it suitable for various driving scenarios while ensuring efficiency.

Charging capabilities have been optimized with DC fast-charging support of up to 165 kW, enabling the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes under ideal conditions. For quick top-ups, drivers can add up to 150 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes at compatible charging stations.

The new model introduces several innovative features, including manual battery preconditioning, which allows drivers to optimize charging performance at every charging station. Through the MMI system, users can monitor available charging power and additional capacity gained through preconditioning.

Audi has also integrated advanced connectivity features, including the Audi application store in the MMI system, providing access to various apps across news, entertainment, and sports categories. The integration of ChatGPT, powered by Azure OpenAI Service and Cerence Inc.’s Chat Pro solution, enhances the voice control system, allowing for natural language interactions with the vehicle’s functions.

Standard equipment is generous, featuring Audi MMI navigation plus, a 10.25-inch Audi virtual cockpit digital instrument cluster, and Audi connect navigation & infotainment. Practical features like an electric luggage compartment lid and front seat heating are also included as standard.

For added convenience, the new predictive maintenance reminder system, accessible through the myAudi app, provides real-time updates on vehicle components’ status, including brake pads and the 12-volt battery, streamlining the maintenance process.

The new Q4 40 e-tron variants can be ordered from mid-February, offering an attractive entry point into Audi’s premium electric vehicle range while maintaining the brand’s commitment to combining luxury, technology, and sustainability.
