The all-electric Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV may be the most affordable Maybach ever offered here.
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia today introduced the ultra-luxurious all-electric Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV. This is the Maybach brand’s first ever electric vehicle and it qualifies for excise duty and import tax exemption until the end of 2025 despite being fully-imported from the USA. The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is all about personalization, so even though pricing starts from RM1,088,888, it can very quickly rise up by several hundred thousand Ringgit. Two examples shown at launched were priced at around RM1.2M and RM1.3M each (Night Series).
The Mercedes-Maybach 680 SUV has a dual e-motor configuration with a maximum output of 658hp and 950Nm of torque allowing it to go from 0-100km/h in just 4.4 seconds and it has a top speed of 210km/h. The range is rated at between 560km to 608km. 22kW AC charging takes 6 hours and 15 minutes to fully charge the battery while 200kW DC fast charging speed gets the battery from 10% to 80% in just 31 minutes.
While there are many mechanical similarities to the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, this Maybach EQS SUV is altogether a different beast with its own design and product philosophy.
Design Highlights
The hood-mounted Mercedes star signals status. The front showcases a brand-typical blackpanel with chrome strips in a 3D look. For the first time, this panel is smooth and closed, with radar sensors invisibly integrated using radar-permeable indium material covered in black lacquer. Chrome slats adorn the bumper air intake. MAYBACH lettering sits on a chrome strip that connects with DIGITAL LIGHT headlights. Maybach emblems appear in side bumper trim. DIGITAL LIGHT offers special welcome shows, while exterior mirrors project Maybach logos when doors open.
Side features include chrome window surrounds and B-pillar trim highlighting rear seating length. A D-pillar Maybach emblem adds luxury, with subtle EQS lettering in the front window triangle. High-gloss black wheel arches emphasize power, complemented by exclusive 21-inch Maybach wheels with MAYBACH-branded hub caps. Illuminated running boards feature anodized aluminum treads with Maybach emblems.
The rear includes a helix-shaped continuous light strip with full-width animation, plus chrome elements on the tailgate, apron, and spoiler lip. The vehicle offers signature two-tone hand-painted finishes in five combinations: high-tech silver/obsidian black, high-tech silver/nautical blue, obsidian black/selenite grey, obsidian black/kalahari gold, and velvet brown/onyx black.
The Night Series adds dark chrome elements, rose gold Maybach emblems in each headlight, Darkened Maybach pinstripes on the grille panel, dark chrome-plated Maybach emblem on the air intake inserts of the front bumper, black edging on the side windows, black running boards with a Maybach emblem in dark chrome, and 21″ 7-spoke light alloy wheels with a Maybach pattern integrated. This package comes in an exclusive two-tone obsidian black/mojave silver finish.
Inside, the MBUX Hyperscreen gets Maybach-specific animations and an exclusive deep blue theme across three displays. Exclusive features include “MAYBACH” mode instrument display with pointers resembling wind-blown silk scarves that respond to speed and driving style. Digits dynamically resize while rose gold surrounds frame instruments. An alternative “Pure EV” style offers a 3D performance bar showing driving status.
Display content and operation match the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV, customizable with three styles (discreet, sporty, MAYBACH) and three modes (navigation, assistance, service). Rear passengers get dual 11.6-inch displays on front seatbacks with MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment for content sharing and navigation control. The vehicle includes an MBUX rear tablet usable outside the vehicle and MBUX Interior Assist.
Natural materials contrast with high-tech elements. Standard MANUFAKTUR brown open-pore walnut trim appears on panels and center console. Optional woods include MANUFAKTUR brown open-pore birch and piano lacquer black flowing lines. The vehicle comes with Exclusive Nappa leather in espresso brown/balao brown pearl, with optional Macchiato beige/bronze brown pearl or Maybach MANUFAKTUR Exclusive Nappa leather in crystal white/silver grey pearl. All leather is sustainably processed.
Maybach emblems appear throughout: on stainless steel pedals, headrest cushions, front seatbacks, and as projections in the rear footwell. First-class rear adds the emblem to wood trim between seats, and it’s visible on the inner tailgate lining when open. Illuminated brand lettering adorns door sills, while a wood/leather multifunction steering wheel features galvanized shift paddles.
