The 10th generation Honda Civic facelift has arrived in Malaysia in both petrol and hybrid form.
Honda Malaysia today unveiled the new Civic. This is a facelifted model of the 11th generation. Key highlights of the facelift include an updated design, improvements to ADAS performance, additional Honda Connect features, uplifting of standard features across all variants and of course the integration of Google Built-in, a first on any mass-market car brand.
As before, there are turbocharged petrol and a hybrid variant as the flagship. The turbocharged models all come with the 1.5L VTEC Turbo engine with 182PS and 240Nm of torque while the 2.0L e:HEV model has a maximum output of 184PS and 315Nm of torque. Both are front-wheel drive only with a CVT on the petrol version and an e-CVT on the hybrid.
In terms of exterior design changes, the new e:HEV RS features body-coloured front-grille extensions and lower grille garnishes as well as a new matte-grey 7-spoke 18″ alloy wheel set. The petrol RS model comes with black-painted grille accent and a new RS emblem. All variants get black taillight extensions, which Honda referred to as a surface treatment change rather than an all-out design change.
As for interior design, the e:HEV RS model comes with some new red highlights on the dashboard and door card plus some new fabric pattern for the seat upholstery.
While there don’t seem to be any improvements to the powertrain on both hybrid and petrol models, there is a new ‘Individual’ Drive Mode for the e:HEV RS which allows the user to define engine response, steering feel, engine sound, meter gauge style, meter graphic and and what output is on the display audio.
The changes to the ADAS includes improvements to the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), extending the operating area to account for motorcycle and bicycles oncoming when turning right at intersections and vehicles crossing intersections without signals from left to right. Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow now behaves more naturally with some added time lag after descent. Acceleration to follow is also ‘tighter’, keeping to the set gap better than before. Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) has also been improved, keeping more to the centre of the lane than before.
The 9″ Display Audio unit is now standard and features a plethora of improvements including Google Built-in with both Electrostatic and Hard Keys. Some of the graphics on the digital instrument cluster appear to have been changed. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is now standard. Besides that, all variants get four USB-C ports, a wireless charging pad, auto wipers and solar & security film.
Honda Connect gets some additional features too. New functions include Remote Light & Horn, Subscription & Payment, Recall Notification, and Personal Data Wipe.
