Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford Brings Clean Water to Orang Asli Community in Gerik, Perak
Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford, the sole distributor for Ford in Malaysia, has partnered with the youth-led NGO MyFundAction to provide sustainable access to clean water for the Orang Asli community in Kampung Sungai Urat, Gerik, Perak. This collaboration, conducted on 23 November 2024, has transformed the lives of over 300 villagers by addressing a fundamental need—access to safe and clean water.
Transforming Lives with Clean Water
With a generous contribution of USD 10,000 from Ford Philanthropy, the project installed a sustainable water tank system utilizing advanced boring techniques. This innovative approach taps into deep groundwater sources, ensuring a long-term, reliable supply of clean water. Additionally, the system’s economic efficiency makes it a sustainable solution for both community needs and agricultural applications.
The initiative was driven by a dedicated team of 30 volunteers from Sime Darby Auto ConneXion. These passionate individuals played a hands-on role, not only in setting up the infrastructure but also in joining MyFundAction to conduct health screenings and educate the community about hygiene practices.
Promoting Health and Hygiene
Beyond providing access to clean water, the project emphasized the importance of health and hygiene through interactive activities designed for children. These engaging sessions aimed to foster lifelong healthy habits among the younger generation, ensuring a holistic approach to community well-being.
