The Proton e.MAS 7 becomes the first battery electric vehicle to be marketed by a national brand in Malaysia.
Proton today launched the e.MAS 7, making it the first electric vehicle from the national car company. It is, of course, based on the Geely Galaxy E5 but Proton has done some work on its version of the car. There are two versions of this electric vehicle.
The base model is called the Proton e.MAS 7 Prime and it comes in at RM109,800 while the Proton e.MAS 7 Premium is priced at RM123,800.
Besides a launch discount of RM4,000, Proton is also offering:

- 1.98% interest rate financing
- 5-years of unlimited in-car data
- a trade-in rebate for current Proton owners
The Proton e.MAS 7 is covered by a 6-year/unlimited mileage vehicle warranty and an 8-year/160,000km battery warranty.
The MAIN differentiating factor is range. The Prime is rated for 345km on the WLTP cycle while the Premium is good for 410km on the WLTP cycle. This is down purely to the capacity difference of their battery packs. The packs feature cell-to-chassis construction and consist of Geely Aegis Short Blade batteries that use LiFePo chemistry. Besides the capacity difference, the Premium has faster 100kW DC charging capabilities while the Prime can do 80kW DC charging, but both vehicles go from 30% to 80% state of charge in 20 minutes. 11kW AC charging is standard for both variants. The Prime is a little faster from 0-100km/h (6.9s vs 7.1s) despite sharing the same motor due to its lower weight.
Speaking of the motor, it’s a Geely engineered 12-in-1 unit with 218PS and 320Nm of torque capable of a top speed of 175km/h. The vehicles come fitted with MacPherson struts in front and multi-link rear suspension.
