The Porsche Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo fits Malaysians’ taste so much better than the sedan
The Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo, launched in 2021, builds on the strengths of the Taycan, offering impressive performance, long range, and increased practicality. It features more headroom for rear passengers and up to 1,200 liters of cargo space with a large tailgate, making it more practical. Key markets for this car include the US, UK, Norway, Netherlands and Germany.
Notice how none of those markets is Malaysia? Most Malaysians do prefer the station wagon and SUV body type over the sedan so why not bring this car here when it has been around since 2022? Well, it finally came to Malaysia early this year and it is definitely a good move on Porsche’s part as far as enthusiasts are concerned.
Moreover, the Taycan Cross Turismo’s interior is equally innovative, with a wide dashboard that includes a curved instrument cluster and optional passenger display, while the Off-Road Design package adds a compass to the dashboard. The car’s advanced chassis system, including the Porsche 4D Chassis Control, ensures optimal handling in real time.
Standard adaptive air suspension with three-chamber technology includes Smartlift, which allows for automatic height adjustments at frequent locations. The vehicle also features a Gravel Mode driving program, boosting off-road performance by adjusting suspension, traction, and throttle response. This definitely helps on our rough roads here.
Powering the Taycan Cross Turismo is an 800-volt system, offering better efficiency and faster charging compared to traditional 400-volt systems. The Performance Battery Plus is a 93.4kWh capacity unit too. Charging is enhanced with a sophisticated temperature management system, allowing for rapid recharging and up to 100km of range in just five minutes.
On top of that, innovative features like Functions on Demand (FoD) allow owners to purchase upgrades after delivery, including convenience and assistive functions that can be activated online. The Taycan Cross Turismo also benefits from high-performance accessories like Porsche’s eBikes, roof boxes, and a versatile bike carrier.
Sustainability is a key focus, with the Taycan Cross Turismo produced in a carbon-neutral facility, using recycled materials in its interior and offering carbon-neutral charging services. The Taycan’s sold over 20,000 units sold in 2020, so Porsche was definitely on to something when bringing the Cross Turismo here to Malaysia for enthusiasts to enjoy too.
So do you prefer the Taycan in its Cross Tursimo guise or the regular sedan body style?
