We are sure the Minister and his team must have been wondering why 35 major car manufacturers were NOT participating in KLIMS 2024
So, we noticed that Dongfeng, Jaecoo, Lotus Cars, Bentley, Chery, Peugeot, Hyundai, Suzuki, Lamborghini, McLaren, Renault, Aston Martin, Range Rover, BMW, BYD, MINI, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Smart, Ferrari, Volvo, Tesla, Zeekr, Subaru, Hyundai, Suzuki Cars, Maserati, Jaguar, FORD, Neta, ISUZU, Volkswagen, Lexus, Rolls Royce and Audi were not having any presence at the on going KLIMS 2024 show at MITEC.
Why has almost 70 percent of the Malaysian automotive industry decided to avoid the Motor Show which has been billed as the most important automotive show in the country.
Meanwhile, in neighbouring Thailand, the 41st Thailand International Motor Expo 2024 which is now running from 29th November 2024 to the 10th of December 2024 had much much much better automotive brands and more. (look at the list of brands below).
So, is KLIMS 2024 worth a visit? Well, if parking is FREE and entrance is FREE then it is worth a visit with the family to spend a good 32 to 35 minutes as that is the time taken by us to walk around the 2 halls and take all the necessary pictures shared here and more.
The only attractions at the show we have highlighted in our news postings last night and we suggest you visit all the 9 articles posted on 9 NEW vehicles shown at KLIMS 2024. Yes, just 9 new vehicles.
It is interesting to note that MAA has 46 brands as its members and that MAA is the leading national industry organization representing the new Passenger and Commercial Vehicles businesses in Malaysia which is ranging from assembly, manufacturing, importation, distribution, marketing, retail sales and after-sales services. Yet, only a handful of brands participated and with 2 wheels there was only Kawasaki-Modenas, Royal Enfield and Harley Davidson. What happened to all the many other motorcycle brands like Honda, Suzuki, Vespa, Yamaha, Aprilia, Ducati, KTM, Triumph and Lambretta?
Then there are truck and bus brands like Scania, Volvo Trucks, MAN, Hino, Isuzu, Foton BYD Commercial and more in Malaysia and they were also not present. Why?
The objectives of MAA are to support the development and protect the interest of the industry, as well as to make representation to the various Government bodies on important issues pertaining to the automotive industry.
Also, major lubricant, fuel and tire brands were also missing. Imagine, Petronas was missing.
So, will there be another KLIMS event in coming years? We seriously doubt it ….. but we hope that it will return with more participants in 2025.
