Malaysia’s First Proton e.MAS Showroom Launched in Shah Alam

The first showroom authorised to sell Proton e.MAS vehicles opens and it’s in Shah Alam.

On December 21, 2024, SG Cars Sdn Bhd officially inaugurated Malaysia’s first Proton e.MAS dealership at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) in Shah Alam. This marks a significant milestone in the nation’s transition towards sustainable mobility, as Proton ventures into the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) market with its dedicated sub-brand, Proton e.MAS.

The event saw notable attendees, including YB Tuan Lau Weng San, Speaker of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly; Roslan Abdullah, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of PROTON; Zhang Qiang, CEO of PRO-NET; and Datuk Andrew Quek, Dealer Owner of SG Cars.

A Step Towards Electric Mobility

Proton e.MAS is positioned as Malaysia’s pioneering NEV brand, with a focus on driving EV adoption and providing innovative solutions for sustainable transportation. The newly launched showroom aims to serve not only as a sales center but also as an educational hub to familiarize consumers with the latest EV technologies.

Zhang Qiang highlighted the collaborative vision between PROTON and SG Cars, stating, “This partnership underscores our commitment to delivering a premium, all-electric experience for our customers.”

Enhanced Customer Experience

The Proton e.MAS dealership network, managed by PRO-NET, adheres to new operational standards designed to improve sales and after-sales services. Sales assistants at the dealership are trained to guide first-time EV users on proper vehicle care and operation. These efforts aim to ensure that the transition to electric mobility is seamless for customers.

Datuk Andrew Quek emphasized the importance of the dealership in fostering local economic growth by creating job opportunities in the automotive sector and raising awareness about sustainable automotive technology.

Nationwide Expansion Plans

Proton e.MAS is rapidly expanding its presence across Malaysia. By the end of 2024, PRO-NET expects 30 out of 37 appointed dealerships to be fully operational. This expansion is bolstered by knowledge-sharing initiatives, such as a recent R&D trip to the Geely Research Institute in Hangzhou, China. During the visit, over 40 dealer principals and executives gained insights into cutting-edge EV technologies, premium customer care, and best practices in dealership operations.
