The GWM WEY 80 PHEV MPV could be the new standard in luxury soon
Great Wall Motor (GWM) Malaysia is excited to showcase its innovative lineup of vehicles at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2024, including a preview of the GWM WEY 80. The GWM WEY 80, a premium 7-seater MPV, sets new standards in comfort and efficiency with its plug-in hybrid electric system, delivering 487PS of power and 762Nm of torque.
Its 37.96 kWh battery offers a range of 150km, making it both sustainable and powerful. The WEY 80 also boasts a spacious, luxurious interior with features like premium leather seats, zero-gravity seating, and foldable tables for the second-row passengers. Additionally, the vehicle comes with an exceptional audio system featuring 16 Harman Kardon speakers.
Moreover, managing director of GWM Malaysia, Cui Anqi, emphasized that the unveiling of these models at KLIMS 2024 highlights GWM’s dedication to meeting the needs of Malaysian consumers, offering sustainable and innovative mobility solutions. GWM’s global expansion strategy, which includes being locally built, locally operated, and globally cultivated, has seen remarkable growth.
The company has expanded its presence to over 170 countries, serving 14 million users. In 2024, GWM achieved a 45.77 percent year-on-year increase in overseas sales, with 411,848 units sold. This growth reflects GWM’s commitment to high-quality, global expansion.
In Malaysia, the company has also seen success with the GWM HAVAL H6 HEV, its first Completely Knocked Down (CKD) model, which delivered 600 units. This indicates a strong demand for GWM’s eco-friendly offerings. The company’s partnership with EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB) ensures high-quality, locally assembled vehicles that meet global standards.
On top of that, GWM Malaysia remains committed to Malaysia’s automotive transformation, guided by its “Go with More, Grow with Malaysia” philosophy. This approach emphasizes delivering more choices, care, and experiences while maintaining global standards of quality and innovation.
