GMC Canyon would be good competition for the Ford Ranger if it were sold here
In 2021, GMC unveiled the Canyon AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition, designed to enhance the Canyon AT4 with advanced off-road capabilities while maintaining the premium comforts. This new edition is tailored for customers who want to confidently tackle off-road environments, providing an upgraded experience without compromising on luxury.
Rich Latek, GMC’s Marketing Director, emphasized the importance of vehicle height and protection for off-road enthusiasts. “Whether it’s conquering difficult terrains or embarking on a weekend adventure, the Canyon AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition offers enhanced maneuverability, a better approach angle and additional underbody protection.” Latek stated.
Moreover, when the Canyon AT4 debuted in January 2020, it impressed with its bold design and premium details, combined with impressive off-road capabilities. GMC’s commitment to offering vehicles that blend luxury with rugged performance was evident. This may be just the pickup truck to really make the Ford Ranger Raptor lose its sales here.
The Canyon AT4 comes standard with 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, an off-road-tuned suspension package featuring an Advanced Hill Descent Control System, and a four-wheel-drive system with an Eaton G80 Rear Automatic Locking Differential. These features made the Canyon AT4 a capable and stylish off-road vehicle right from the start.
The new Off-Road Performance Edition also takes these capabilities even further. A factory-installed suspension leveling kit and the removal of the front air dam improve the truck’s approach angle by over 35 percent, bringing it to nearly 30 degrees. This improved approach angle is complemented by rocker panel protectors and performance skid plates for the front and midsections of the truck.
On top of that, these skid plates, crafted from robust 5/32-inch aluminum, offer protection for vital components such as the lower radiator, front differential, steering gear, and oil pan. Together with the Canyon AT4’s standard transfer case shield, the Off-Road Performance Edition delivers the level of protection needed for serious off-road enthusiasts.
The Off-Road Performance Edition also adds a touch of bold style to the Canyon AT4’s already refined design. It features unique 17-inch Gloss Black wheels, Carbon Black AT4 logos, and a Gloss Black performance exhaust tip, elevating its rugged yet premium appearance.
To further protect the truck after off-road adventures, GMC provides accessory floor liners and a spray-in bedliner, ensuring the interior and truck bed stay in top condition. This combination of performance enhancements and stylish refinements makes the Canyon AT4 Off-Road Performance Edition the ultimate choice for off-road capability without sacrificing luxury.
