The collaboration between GAC and Toyota with the bZ3X looks like a good fit here
The GAC Toyota bZ3X has officially begun sales of its electric vehicles (EVs) in China, marking a significant milestone for both the Toyota and GAC brands as they continue to push forward in the electric vehicle market.
With a starting price range of approximately USD13,800 to USD27,500, the bZ3X is positioned as an affordable yet high-performance EV aimed at attracting a wide range of consumers, from first-time electric car buyers to those looking to upgrade to a more sustainable vehicle. One of the key features is its weight, which is about 1,690kg.
Moreover, this weight includes the car’s battery pack, which plays a crucial role in determining the vehicle’s range and performance. The bZ3X comes equipped with a 50.03kWh battery, which provides an impressive range of around 430km on the Chinese CLTC (China Light-duty Vehicle Test Cycle) standard.
This is a notable range for an affordable electric sedan, allowing for long-distance driving without the frequent need to recharge. In addition, there is a version of the bZ3X that offers an even longer range, up to 620km. This version is ideal for those looking to drive longer distances or who need more flexibility in terms of charging intervals.
The bZ3X also uses the latest LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) blade battery technology, which is known for its improved energy density, safety, and longevity compared to traditional lithium-ion batteries. It’s likely that this is the newest generation of LFP battery, offering better performance and a more eco-friendly footprint.
On top of that, given the increasing demand for EVs in the global market, the GAC Toyota bZ3X’s entry into the Chinese market is a promising sign for the future of affordable, high-range EVs. Now the real question is, will this handsome looking EV be coming to Malaysia?
As the Malaysian automotive market shows growing interest in electric mobility, the introduction of the bZ3X could be a valuable addition, especially considering its affordability and impressive range. Plus given how the Government is pushing for EV adoption, it fits the current target too. So I guess we will have to wait and see.
It should also be noted that both GAC and Toyota are now selling here in Malaysia as well so there is no reason why both the brands cannot collaborate and introduce more vehicles here as well.
