EPMB is proving its here to stay in Melaka with its new production milestone
EP Manufacturing Bhd (EPMB), a Main Market-listed company, has reached a significant milestone with the production of its 1,000th car at the Vehicle Assembly Plant in Pegoh, Melaka. This accomplishment underscores the brand’s dedication to excellence, innovation, and sustainability in automotive manufacturing.
At the celebratory event, EPMB’s Executive Chairman reflected on the company’s journey and shared his vision for the future. He acknowledged the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and highlighted the company’s perseverance in building a sustainable and profitable future.
Moreover, he emphasized that EPMB’s partnership with Great Wall Motor (GWM) has been pivotal, with the plant consistently meeting GWM’s quality standards. Production plans for 2025 include assembling the GWM Jolion model in April and an MPV tailored for the ASEAN market by year-end.
Additionally, EPMB will begin assembling BAIC models from another prominent Chinese brand, projecting full utilization of Phase 1 capacity by late 2025. Preparations for Phase 2, which will increase annual production by 30,000 vehicles, are underway. Phase 3 will integrate vehicle body manufacturing and painting facilities.
The Executive Chairman also expressed gratitude to the Melaka state government and key federal agencies, including the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and Malaysia Automotive Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii).
On top of that, he acknowledged the unwavering support of Melaka Corporation, Invest Melaka Berhad, and the Alor Gajah Municipal Council, which have facilitated EPMB’s growth in the region. EPMB is actively driving the localisation of key vehicle components to bolster Malaysia’s automotive industry.
Its facilities in Kulim, Tanjong Malim, Batang Kali, Shah Alam, and Melaka are producing critical components for GWM vehicles, such as seats, suspension systems, axle modules, and interior trims. The partnership with GWM also supports local suppliers, fostering a robust automotive ecosystem in Melaka that creates jobs, enhances industries, and boosts the economy.
What’s more, EPMB is embedding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into its operations. Efforts include energy-efficient production, waste reduction, and the adoption of cleaner technologies in assembly lines. The company is committed to creating a lasting positive impact on both the environment and local communities.
With plans to expand production capacity and integrate advanced manufacturing capabilities, EPMB is poised to meet growing demand, innovate in vehicle production, and contribute significantly to the localization of Malaysia’s automotive industry.
