Will Auto Bavaria finally be able to make EV charging infrastructure viable in Malaysia?
Auto Bavaria, a leader in premium automotive solutions and the largest authorized dealer for the BMW Group in Malaysia, has announced a strategic collaboration with AFFIN Group to enhance the country’s electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.
This partnership aligns with both organizations’ environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals, aimed at promoting responsible and sustainable mobility solutions. As a pioneer in the transition to smart and efficient transportation, Auto Bavaria has long been committed to innovation and the advancement of sustainable mobility.
Moreover, the collaboration with AFFIN, a financial institution with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, will accelerate the development and accessibility of EV charging facilities across Malaysia. Vi Thim Juan, Managing Director of Auto Bavaria, emphasized the importance of EVs in shaping the future of mobility.
He stated, “This partnership with AFFIN underscores our dedication to enhancing EV infrastructure and supporting Malaysia’s shift toward a low-carbon economy. Together, we are empowering drivers to make responsible mobility choices and contribute to reducing their carbon footprint.”
On top of that, Datuk Wan Razly Abdullah, President & Group CEO of Affin Bank Berhad, also expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, highlighting AFFIN’s ongoing commitment to sustainability.
He noted, “Our collaboration with Auto Bavaria reaffirms our commitment to our ESG agenda, creating a positive impact for the future and providing a seamless customer experience. This initiative supports the ‘Unrivalled Customer Service’ and ‘Responsible Banking with Impact’ pillars of our AX28 Strategic Plan.”
The partnership also focuses on making EV ownership more accessible. AFFIN plans to offer tailored financing options for customers looking to purchase electric vehicles, making them more affordable and achievable. By leveraging its expertise in auto financing, AFFIN aims to facilitate a broader shift toward sustainable mobility.
As part of the collaboration, the companies will install seven AC chargers and one DC charger at the EV charging stations at Menara AFFIN in the Tun Razak Exchange, Malaysia’s International Financial Centre. This infrastructure development is part of a larger effort by both Auto Bavaria and AFFIN to promote Malaysia’s sustainable mobility and smart living, contributing to a greener and more eco-conscious future for the nation.
