2025 Volvo XC40 B5 Plus Available For Booking In Malaysia, 2024 Stock Cleared

Volvo Car Malaysia has opened the order books for the 2025 XC40 B5 Plus.

Volvo was one of the car manufacturers that decided not to participate in this year’s Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show, but they did take the opportunity to quietly open the order books for the 2025 Volvo XC40 B5 Plus model. This news was shared with us via a press release on the day of the Mobility Show, but was buried under the heaps of other news items.

The first thing to note is the change of name. It looks like the previous model, named ‘Ultimate‘, is now being called the ‘Plus’… which probably indicates that Volvo Car Malaysia isn’t anywhere near done selling the XC40 in this form.

The B5 is a mild-hybrid powertrain that marries a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine to a small electric motor for assistance. The total system output is 263hp and 390Nm of torque and this is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

This sort of mild hybrid set-up is perfect for those who want the feel of a traditional petrol vehicle with better efficiency in preparation of the blanket fuel subsidy removal. It should be noted that Volvo Car Malaysia have offered the XC40 in a variety of forms throughout its existence including pure petrol, mild hybrid, plug-in hybrid and pure electric. Right now though, the XC40 will only be available as a mild hybrid or as a pure electric vehicle.

The B5’s price has increased for 2025 by RM10,000. It now goes for RM278,888 OTR w/o insurance, but there are FOUR changes to look forward to this time around. The first thing to note is that there is now an additional new exterior colour – Cloud Blue. The other change is aero-optimised rim design, which is still 19″ as before. This will ensure everyone who knows Volvos knows that you have the latest one and not something from 2018.

The third change, and perhaps the one that matters the most is the upgrade to Pixel LED Matrix headlights. These headlights can change their brightness automatically to adapt to different situations while avoiding dazzling oncoming drivers. The final change is with the Digital Services package, which is now complimentary for 5 years instead of 4. This will enable remote access via the Volvo Cars app and Google connectivity to access all the Android Automotive services in the vehicle.
