The Taos Rivals The Tiguan In Technology Features
This is a brand new nameplate from Volkswagen which debuted in 2022 and a compact SUV that has been very popular in South and north America. This is the VW Taos and will be sitting in the same segment as the Honda HR-V which is priced from RM114,800, Toyota Corolla Cross which is priced from RM129,266 and the Chery Omoda 5 priced from RM108,800.
There are two variants we can see parked here and they are both NOT the 2025 refreshed model that was teased in September this year. The starter trim of the VW Taos will probably be the S model and it should come with exhilarating features, such as a VW digital cockpit, LED taillights and headlights, IQ.Drive, 18-inch alloy wheels (4MOTION only) and will be powered by a 1.5-liter engine with a turbocharger.
At the pinnacle is the SEL variant which might feature a sunroof, BeatsAudio, leather seating surfaces, projector headlights with signature DRLs and a front grille featuring an integrated light bar. The SEL configuration also comes with a VW digital cockpit pro, which offers more advanced performance than the standard VW digital cockpit.
We all know that today’s drivers want to stay connected to their world and this is why cabin connectivity is important. When comparing the Volkswagen Taos with its bigger sibling the VW Tiguan (priced from RM165k to RM245k), you will find that both models are loaded with connected technologies that offer seamless integration of your trusted handheld smart device.
Both of these VW SUVs come with standard Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration and a touch-screen display. As calls and text messages come in, you can answer and reply through the infotainment system so that you never miss a word or take your eyes off the road.
In terms of size this VW Taos is smaller than the VW Tiguan. It is shorter in height and length. The VW Taos measures 64.4 inches in height and 175.8 inches in length and it provides a maximum cargo capacity of 65.9 cubic feet. The Tiguan measures 186.1 inches long, 72.4 inches wide, and it is 66.4 inches high.
The Tiguan has a larger engine than the Taos, with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, while the Taos has a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine.
So, when will this VW Taos be launched and what would be the possible selling prices. Well, we are going to guesstimate a selling price from RM138,800 to be side by side with the current rivals we mentioned above and a wee bit lower than the bigger VW Tiguan.
