Royal Enfield Launches The New Electric Motorcycle Brand Flying Flea

Enjoy the feeling of riding Royal Enfield with an electric twist with Flying Flea

Royal Enfield, a name synonymous with classic motorcycles, holds the distinction of being the oldest motorcycle brand in continuous operation, with a legacy spanning more than 123 years. While steeped in history, the brand has always maintained an eye on the future, and in 2024, it made a bold leap into the electric motorcycle market at EICMA.

The introduction of Flying Flea, a new, dedicated electric motorcycle brand, marks a significant turning point in Royal Enfield’s evolution. The name “Flying Flea” is a nod to a legendary motorcycle produced by Royal Enfield during World War II. The original Flying Flea, created in the 1940s, was designed to be dropped into war zones by parachute.

Moreover, it earned a reputation for its lightweight frame, ruggedness, and agility, qualities that made it ideal for soldiers on the move. This sense of resilience, adaptability, and compact design is now revived with the new Flying Flea electric range. The first model under the Flying Flea brand is the FF-C6, which merges retro styling with cutting-edge electric technology.

The design takes clear inspiration from its wartime predecessor, with a forged aluminium Girder fork, reminiscent of early 20th-century motorcycles. The frame, also crafted from forged aluminium, combines lightness with durability, ensuring both performance and endurance.

The use of a magnesium battery housing also further contributes to reducing weight while enhancing heat dissipation for optimal battery performance. The FF-C6 isn’t just a nod to the past; it’s a forward-looking machine. It features advanced technology like customizable acceleration, braking and regeneration settings, allowing riders to tailor the bike’s performance to their preferences.

On top of that, the bike benefits from Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, ensuring that its software remains up-to-date with the latest improvements and features. For modern convenience, the FF-C6 can even be started using a smartphone, eliminating the need for a traditional key.

For riders who crave more rugged versatility, Royal Enfield also offers a scrambler-style variant, the Flying Flea S6. The FF-C6 is designed with urban mobility in mind, offering effortless twist-and-go acceleration. Riders can also enjoy enhanced safety features like cornering ABS, which ensures optimal stability even in challenging road conditions.

In launching Flying Flea, Royal Enfield demonstrates that, while deeply rooted in tradition, it is not afraid to embrace the future of motorcycling, with a perfect blend of classic design and cutting-edge technology.
