Owners of the affected Honda models need to get their cars looked at A.S.AP
Honda Malaysia has announced a proactive product update affecting approximately 36,000 units of its Civic, Civic Type R, and CR-V models. This update addresses a potential issue with the Electric Power Steering (EPS) gearbox in these vehicles, which may require attention to ensure continued safety and performance.
The issue arises from the Honda EPS gearbox worm wheel, which may experience swelling and a reduction in grease film thickness. This condition could lead to abnormal steering noise or sticky steering, which may impact the overall driving experience. The affected models include the 2022-2024 Civic, the 2023-2024 Civic Type R and the 2024 CR-V.
Moreover, Honda Malaysia has emphasised that this product update is a preventive measure to maintain the safety and reliability of the vehicles involved. The Company reassures customers that this issue does not affect any other currently produced or sold Honda models, and it is taking all necessary steps to address the matter swiftly and efficiently.
As part of this proactive update, Honda Malaysia will notify all affected customers through official notification letters, which will provide detailed information about the required update. Customers are encouraged to contact any Honda authorised dealer upon receiving the notification to schedule an appointment for a vehicle inspection.
Depending on the assessment, the required repairs or replacement of the affected parts will also be carried out. The Company will bear the full cost of the inspection, repair, or replacement of the affected components, ensuring that customers are not burdened by any additional expenses.
On top of that, the required replacement parts will be made available in stages, with the first batch of replacement stock expected to be ready in December 2024. Honda Malaysia extends its sincerest apologies to any customers impacted by this update and appreciates their understanding and cooperation.
Ensuring customer safety and satisfaction remains Honda Malaysia’s top priority, and this proactive step underscores the company’s commitment to quality and customer care. Customers with further questions or concerns are advised to contact their nearest Honda authorised dealer for additional assistance and support.
Honda Malaysia is dedicated to providing a smooth and hassle-free experience as it works to resolve this matter promptly and efficiently, so please take your affected Honda model to your nearest authorised service centre as soon as you can.
