EV Owners In Malaysia Can Order Their JPJePlates Starting 9 November 2024

EV owners will now finally be able to have their special EV plates on their cars

The highly anticipated JPJePlate, a specialised licence plate for electric vehicles (EVs), is now available for purchase by existing EV owners, starting Saturday, 9 November. Initially, this service was only offered to newly registered EVs, but the good news is that current EV owners can now place their orders for this unique plate design, which is part of Malaysia’s broader efforts to promote the adoption of EVs.

However, there’s a small catch, you won’t be able to order the JPJePlate directly from the manufacturer, Handal Ceria. Instead, you’ll need to go through one of the authorised installers. These include various EV showrooms, as well as participating accessory shops and automotive workshops.

Moreover, as of this morning, we found that nearly 500 authorised JPJePlate installers are already listed across Malaysia, so there are plenty of options to choose from. The JPJePlate itself is priced at RM98 for a complete set. However, the installation fee will vary depending on the installer you choose, as it is determined by the individual business.

There is no ceiling limit set on the installation charge, so the final cost to obtain and install the JPJePlate will depend on the location and the installer’s pricing. This means that while the cost of the plate itself remains fixed at RM98, you could pay significantly more depending on where you go for installation.

On top of that, if you are an EV owner and looking to get your JPJePlate, it’s advisable to check with different authorised installers for both the cost of the plate and the installation fees. Some installers may also offer additional services or promotions that could impact the total cost.

The launch of the JPJePlate for existing EV owners is an important step toward further integrating electric vehicles into Malaysia’s transportation ecosystem. Now if we can only find a way to speed up the process of installing more EV chargers in more locations in the country, we could finally manage the transition to electric mobility.

With nearly 500 authorised installers already available across the country, this is an exciting opportunity for current EV owners to make their vehicles stand out while contributing to the nation’s growing green vehicle movement. Make sure to act fast once it becomes available to avoid delays and secure your unique EV licence plate.
