2024 Aprilia RS 457 Launches in Malaysia: A New Chapter in Affordable Sport Bikes

The Aprilia RS 457 is now available in Malaysia for under RM34K.

The highly anticipated Aprilia RS 457 has officially landed in Malaysia, marking a significant milestone in the accessible sports bike segment. Launched by Didi Group on October 30, 2024, in Petaling Jaya, the new twin-cylinder sports bike combines Aprilia’s racing heritage with cutting-edge technology at a competitive price point starting from RM 33,900.

MotoGP rider Lorenzo Savadori graced the launch event, highlighting the RS 457’s connection to Aprilia’s racing pedigree. The bike features a newly developed 457cc parallel-twin engine that produces 47.6 HP at 9,400 rpm and 43.5 Nm of torque at 6,700 rpm, making it perfectly suited for A2 license holders while delivering impressive performance capabilities.

What sets the RS 457 apart in its segment is its class-leading power-to-weight ratio, achieved through its lightweight aluminum frame construction – a feature unique in its class. With a dry weight of just 159 kg (175 kg wet), the RS 457 promises agile handling and responsive performance for both novice and experienced riders.

The bike’s sophisticated electronics package includes three riding modes (ECO, SPORT, and RAIN), adjustable traction control, and dual-channel ABS. The Ride-by-Wire throttle system, derived from Aprilia’s experience in MotoGP, ensures precise power delivery across all riding conditions.

Design-wise, the RS 457 carries Aprilia’s signature styling cues, including the distinctive triple LED headlight setup and aerodynamic double front fairing. The comfortable 800mm seat height and ergonomic riding position make it accessible to riders of various sizes while maintaining its sporty character.

Malaysian riders can choose from three distinctive color schemes:

  • Racing Stripes (RM 35,900) – featuring a dynamic blend of black, red, and violet
  • Prismatic Dark (RM 33,900)
  • Opalescent Light (RM 33,900)

Key Technical Highlights:

  • Liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine with DOHC
  • 6-speed transmission with optional quickshifter
  • 41mm front fork with adjustable preload
  • 320mm front disc with ByBre radial-mounted caliper
  • 13-liter fuel tank capacity
  • 5-inch color TFT display

The RS 457 comes with an extensive range of optional accessories, including:

  • Single-seat tail cover for a sportier look
  • Aprilia MIA connectivity system for smartphone integration
  • Various comfort and performance upgrades
  • Dedicated riding gear developed with Alpinestars
