Toyota, staying true to its clean mobility solutions is talking about it transparently
UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) is poised to lead vital discussions on sustainable mobility as the official Beyond Zero Partner at the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia 2024 (IGEM). Taking place from 9 to 11 October 2024, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), this event will highlight the brand’s multi-pathway strategy towards Carbon Neutrality, a core element of its global vision.
Toyota’s presence at IGEM emphasises the belief that achieving net zero requires a variety of strategies to achieve speed and scale. The automaker’s multi-pathway approach utilises a broad array of technologies, from hybrid electric vehicles to hydrogen fuel cells, aimed at reducing emissions across various mobility scenarios.
Moreover, among the innovations showcased will be the Mirai hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle and the Innova Zenix Hybrid Electric, both significant milestones in Toyota’s dedication to sustainable transportation. The brand recognizes that different regions face unique challenges in their pursuit of Carbon Neutrality.
In Asia, where countries are at varying stages of adopting green technologies, Toyota’s diverse solutions offer customers the flexibility to reduce emissions without sacrificing performance. On 10 October 2024, Toyota’s leadership will be highlighted during a keynote address by Pras Ganesh, Executive Vice President of Toyota Motor Asia, at Mobility-X, a segment of IGEM focused on the future of transportation.
Mobility-X aims to unite thought leaders to discuss integrated solutions for addressing the climate crisis. In his keynote, Pras Ganesh will outline Toyota’s commitment to achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2050 through its Multi-Pathway approach, emphasising the need for a comprehensive strategy to address emissions across the vehicle lifecycle.
On top of that, he remarked, “By offering various technologies, from fuel-efficient internal combustion engines to battery electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles, we can accelerate the journey towards a sustainable future.”
As the transportation sector contributes significantly to global carbon emissions, the shift towards green mobility is becoming increasingly vital. Toyota has sold over 23 million electrified vehicles globally, marking its leadership in this transition. In Malaysia, the brand continues to expand its electrified vehicle portfolio in alignment with government efforts to reduce carbon footprints.
IGEM 2024 will be officially launched on October 10, 2024, by Malaysia’s Prime Minister, with attendance from high-ranking officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change.
This event marks another step in Toyota’s commitment to providing scalable, practical solutions tailored to consumer needs and national environmental goals.
